The Bay wins an AIA Merit Award

We are proud to announce that Sarasota Bay Park was awarded a Gulf Coast Chapter of the American Institute of Architects Merit Award in the “Unbuilt Design” category! The shade structures, designed by Sweet Sparkman Architects in collaboration with project lead, Agency, were the winning feature of the park.

“Finding inspiration in the social aspects of [Field Theory], the park structures create innovative, shaded spaces for the public. Phase 1 of the 42-acre site will incorporate a pier, great lawn, shade structures, and food pavilion. At the edges of the great lawn, the architectural structures support public gathering spaces with generous areas for shade and shelter.” – Sweet Sparkman

Congratulations to Sweet Sparkman, who were also honored for three other projects this year by Gulf Coast Chapter AIA.

The design team includes Kimley-Horn, Sweet Sparkman Architects, Moffatt Nichol, Sasaki, Edgewater Resources, Cummins Cederberg, HLB Lighting, HR&A Advisors and Zaragunda.
