Slide, Swing, and Splash into Summer at The Mill River Park Playground
We are excited to share that the Sue McGraw Friendship Playground at Mill River Park is open! Led by the Mill River Park Collaborative, the Agency team engaged the community to create a new vision for this space that is welcoming and inclusive, fun and exciting, and themed by its natural siting along Stamford’s Mill River. Over a nearly three year design and construction process, the vision has transformed into a revitalized playground for that same community to enjoy for many years to come!
Community’s priorities for safe but adventurous contextual play, inclusion and accessibility, which were expressed throughout the design process, came to life in unique play experience alongside collaborators at Earthscape Play, Kanics Inclusive Design, and Abundant Playscapes. Engineers at Langan Engineering and CES helped the team ensure that the playground interfaces responsibly with the floodway and floodplain while maintaining high value play opportunities.
