Raymond Park, also known as Corcoran Field, in Cambridge, MA is a cherished community park in the heart of Neighborhood Nine. Originally built in 1915 on a former clay pit during the heyday of North Cambridge’s brick making industry, Raymond Park is well loved today for its lush tree canopy, playground, community garden, basketball court, and sports fields.
The last major renovation of Raymond Park was completed over thirty years ago and the park is now showing many signs of age and wear. The City of Cambridge Community Development Department is seeking to build on what people already love about Raymond Park while making much needed improvements. Following several waves of community engagement, the design study will consider the whole park, draw upon community input, and highlight Neighborhood Nine’s character and history. Renovation work is expected to be completed in 2025. Agency is leading the planning and design effort with support from Arup and VHB.
