In collaboration with the Boston Planning and Development Agency’s Urban Design team, Agency is leading work to identify and communicate design values for Boston. Running through 2023, this innovative project seeks to ensure that Boston’s design reflects the diverse individuals that comprise the City and its communities.
This work includes research, observation, and engagement with the Boston community to evaluate how the city looks, feels, supports movement, and how it builds community. It also includes interviews with public sector design leaders and industry experts as well as benchmarking research from peer communities.
Supported by community-specific design typologies and an implementation roadmap, this work will inform how future spaces are designed, communicate what is important for communities to thrive, and promote equitable growth and development.
Agency is leading planning, design, and landscape architecture. We are working closely with Isidor Studio for urban research and graphic design, DREAM Collaborative for urban design and architecture, Consult LeLa for local outreach and communication, and photographer OJ Slaughter for photography and engagement support.
