Off to the Races at MCI Concord

Ready, set, go… !

In January 2024, Governor Healey announced that MCI-Concord – the state’s oldest men’s correctional facility – will be decommissioned, and the state property will be sold and redeveloped. Starting in February 2025, Agency is leading a 5-month “sprint” planning and visioning process, working with the Town of Concord, MA DCAMM, stakeholders, and our incredible team, to imagine a future for the MCI-Concord site.

So far, the Advisory Board brainstormed with us, local residents workshopped ideas, former inmates offered site knowledge, and postcards distributed town-wide invited further feedback. These efforts have yielded many creative ways to adapt the site for the Concord community, and will be shared as possible future scenarios next week in public workshops.

Agency is leading a multi-disciplinary team of experts: Merge Architects, Designing Justice + Designing Spaces, Buro Happold, U3 Advisors, and Landwise Advisors.
