Lounge, Listen, and Leave Us a Message at Seattle Design Festival!

Agency is partnering with the Seattle Office of Planning and Community Development to plan for a future that supports and celebrates the South Lake Union’s diversity and history. Our installation “In My Own Words” at the Seattle Design Festival kicked off the process to develop a new 20-year vision plan.

Riffing on the festival’s theme of “Feedback,” we designed a space to gather, listen, and share hopes for the future of South Lake Union. Visitors can step inside to learn about the people who make up the neighborhood, lounge as they listen to local oral history interviews, and pick up the phone to speak their own vision–in whatever language feels most natural. Together, these voices will shape a shared vision for a future that reflects the area’s diverse cultures and perspectives.

Thank you to our partners at the Seattle Office of Planning and Community Development and our hosts at the Seattle Design Festival! Thanks also to our local fabrication team, as well as the Museum of History and Industry and the Jack Straw Cultural Center for letting us feature oral history interviews from their archives.
