Get Your Shovels Out! Breaking Ground for the New Jersey Greenway
Yesterday, in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), Governor Phil Murphy, and the communities of Essex and Hudson counties, the first phase of the New Jersey Greenway officially broke ground in Newark! This mile-long linear park stretching from Belleville through Newark will offer multi-modal paths for walking, biking, and rolling, plus community plazas, an inclusive adventure playscape and splashpad, community gardens, picnic space, and a flexible lawn and stage for gatherings big and small. At the geographic center of the future nine-mile Greenway, this section showcases elements of the historic rail corridor and sets design standards for the investments to come.
Agency is thrilled to be working alongside NV5, AmerCom Corp., Creative Urban Alchemy, Green Shield Ecology Inc., Hive Public Space, HLB Lighting Design, InfraMap Corp., Studio Ummo, Earthscape Play, and Toscano Clements Taylor to realize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and create a unique, linear state park in the heart of the city!
