Last week in Chattanooga we welcomed community members to get a peek inside the next evolution of the city’s acclaimed riverfront. Folks strolled the park’s new amenities and offered feedback to inform final design.
“This is really the evolution of the 21st century Waterfront, and we’re doing this not just for the generation today, but for those generations to come after us” – Emily Mack, President and CEO of the River City Company.
Chattanooga’s riverfront is evolving into a more inviting, dynamic space that fosters connection, play, and community. Building on our recent conceptual planning, we are thrilled to now be leading an expanded team—including Abundant Playscapes, Barge, CP Estimating, HK Architects, HLB, Moffat & Nichol, Monstrum, Omnes, and Studio Ummo— to move the project into detailed design and construction documentation!
At the heart of this transformation is ‘The Ribbon’, a series of lush, planted pockets woven into the waterfront, framed by welcoming Porches that create intimate gathering spaces. These thoughtful additions connect to new and exciting amenities, including a vibrant restaurant on Chestnut Street, a charming Pier Café, a standalone family restroom, and a one-of-a-kind play area inspired by the Chattanooga Box Turtle and Darters.
Rooted in community input and Chattanooga’s rich heritage, this next chapter—guided by River City Company, the City of Chattanooga, and Chattanooga Design Studio—continues to shape a waterfront that will inspire and bring people together for generations to come.
