Allen Penniman, Welcome to Agency!
We couldn’t be happier to welcome Allen Penniman to Agency as a senior urban planner!
Multidisciplinary, yet foremost a planner, Allen Penniman specializes in weaving planning, urban design, and real estate development into the equitable revitalization of distressed urban neighborhoods. Prior to joining Agency, Allen served as a Design Director for the City of Detroit, where he led planning for $69M in neighborhood reinvestment and $58M in flood recovery and resiliency investment. In Detroit and elsewhere, Allen’s work has involved reactivating commercial corridors, realizing housing development, sustaining post-industrial creative districts, and reinventing streets to support joyful public life. He has taught or critiqued at the University of Michigan, RISD, and his alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania. Allen recently became a father. When he isn’t changing diapers, he can be found neck deep in a DIY project or rooting for his obscure and floundering, but beloved, English soccer club.
