We’re Back in Burlington, Designing Great Streets
Agency is working with longtime collaborators, the City of Burlington and VHB, on the Great Streets Initiative for Main Street!
In 2016, the City of Burlington embarked on the Great Streets Initiative, a multi-year process to analyze, design, and reinvest in the City’s Downtown streets, like the recently completed St. Paul Street. This year, the City is ready to advance the design for Main Street from South Union to Battery Street.
“The concept plan for Main Street is about balancing all of the uses of our public right of way; it optimizes the roadway by converting diagonal parking to parallel. This change allows for the introduction of wider sidewalks, appropriately sized tree belts to support tree health and stormwater management, and a protected bike lane. Agency first started working with the City on their Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Master Plan in 2010, while at Sasaki. Since then, we’ve had the incredible opportunity to work on their waterfront bike path, Perkins Pier Siting Study, and now Main Street!
