WxLA Honored with an Award of Excellence by the BSLA!

The Boston Society of Landscape Architects announced the 2020 BSLA Award winners on a live, online event Monday, June 29. We are thrilled that WxLA – an advocacy initiative focused on gender justice in landscape architecture, co-founded by Gina Ford, Cinda Gilliland, Steven Spears, Jamie Maslyn Larson and Rebecca Leonard – was awarded an Award of Excellence in the Communications category!

On the work, the jury noted:
WxLA is a brilliant use of a multimedia approach to outreach, starting with the convening of a conventional panel, continuing to social media and branding, and culminating in fundraising and scholarships for future generations of landscape architecture women. This effort is an invaluable tool for firms to evaluate their policies and improve their practices to ensure equity and diversity in the field.  The jury found the project to be inspiring and powerful in a multitude of ways, from imagery of people, to the stories told in the submitted content, and the success of the scholarship program and the online Wiki presence.  Two jurors even wore their WxLA t-shirts to the review in support of the project!
