Mayors and Modernism: Agency Takes Part in MICD Columbus!
The Mayors’ Institute on City Design (MICD) is a leadership initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the United States Conference of Mayors. Aimed at helping transform communities through design by preparing mayors to be the chief urban designers of their cities, MICD plans and manages six sessions held throughout the country. Participation in each two-and-one-half-day session is limited to eight mayors, eight preeminent design and development professionals, and MICD partners.
We are thrilled that Gina will be representing urban design, planning and landscape architecture on behalf of Agency at the upcoming session in Columbus, Indiana. Landmark Columbus will host a session of the Mayors’ Institute on City Design geared toward small and mid-sized cities on October 16-18, 2019.
Columbus, Indiana is home to an extraordinary collection of modern architecture, including seven National Historic Landmarks, and dozens of large-scale public works of art. Landmark Columbus is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and building upon that heritage in this city of 46,000. Agency’s Miller Prize project, XX, is currently park of the Exhibit Columbus and will be activated as a special event during the MICD (more on that in a bit!).
