Agency Talks Flexibility and Public Space Activation!

Cannon Ivers curated an extraordinary volume on the flexible use of public space called “Staging Urban Landscapes: The Activation and Curation of Flexible Public Spaces”. An incredible effort that showcases the work and thinking of designers around the globe, the volume is a go-to anthology for landscape architects looking to understand contemporary park dynamics.

Featured within the volume is an essay co-written by Agency’s Gina Ford along with her frequent collaborator F. Philip Barash and an excellent case study on The Lawn on D. Barash and Ford discuss the role of parks in 21st century culture to wake visitors from their screen-induced slumber and confront the necessary discomfort of nature, culture and adventure in the urban environment. Their essay features project work including the Lawn on D, the Chicago Riverwalk and the Smale Riverfront Park.
